A Lion with Two Tails
The Two Tailed Lion (TTL) has been a much-loved fixture in the community for many years. It is a proper craft beer free house filled with character, loyal regulars, and new faces every day. In 2024, the Lion gained an unusual guardian when MNE Accounting took ownership.
This joint venture blends the heart of a traditional pub with the business brains of a medium sized accounting firm.
Why an Accounting Firm Bought a Pub
Accounting firms and pubs do not usually mix.
We know how to run a successful business, and we love a good pub, but we also know that others might be best placed to run one. That is exactly why we brought in a new team, now headed up by Kyle. They have the hospitality experience and expertise to run The Lion properly, while we focus on what we do best: giving the business the best possible chance of standing on its own two feet.
Our guiding principles from day one were simple:
Keep the soul and character of The Two Tailed Lion exactly as it always has been
Never turn it into a “finance firm’s pub” (apart from one rather nice MNE wine box by the plant wall downstairs!)
Bring professional standards, consistency, and financial discipline without losing the warmth and welcome
Not About Profit, But About Passion
We did not take over The Lion to make money. We knew it needed ongoing financial support, and we were (and still are) happy to provide it. The goal has always been to protect this special place and give it the best possible future.
We are not at risk of closing imminently, but we also cannot fund it indefinitely. The Lion needs to become more self-sufficient. Thanks to Kyle and the team, it is already performing better on almost every metric than it ever has before.
The Pride – Our Loyalty Scheme

That is why we launched The Pride, our new loyalty scheme designed to recognise and reward the people who keep coming back. Members enjoy great discounts, regular freebies, and feel like true insiders in the Lion’s story. Under Kyle’s leadership, the pub is buzzing with energy. We have introduced exciting new events including tap takeovers and meet the brewer nights, with an action-packed calendar planned throughout 2026.
We have also made many visible improvements to enhance your visit: a new cocktail menu, an additional beer tap featuring our favourite local brewer Braybrooke, a revitalised gallery showcasing local artists, new outdoor furniture, a reupholstered bar area, new fridges and equipment, a new food offering, and air conditioning inside.
We are determined not to cut corners or push prices up just to survive. We believe in paying staff properly and delivering the best possible experience every single time you walk through the door.
Pubs Need You All Year Round
You will hear a lot in the media about how tough things are for pubs right now. The Two Tailed Lion is no exception, but we are incredibly fortunate to have the backing of MNE Accounting to help it through.
Pubs are not just for Christmas parties or sporting weekends. They are for birthdays, work drinks, catching up with friends, or simply deciding to stay for one more after you have already enjoyed a brilliant pint on the way home.
